An uncountable noun is a noun that you cannot easily count

Countable nouns are nouns that are distinct and easily countable objects, people, animals, etc

3. How to form plural nouns for countable nouns – Add “s” to the end of singular nouns.

For example:

a dog = > dogs    

a banana = > bananas

– Nouns ending in -s, -sh, -ch, -x add “es” when changing to plural.

a box = > boxes

a brush (a brush) => brushes (brushes)

– For nouns ending in “y” and preceded by a consonant, we must change “y” to “i” and add “es” when changing to plural nouns.

a lorry (a truck)  => lorries (the trucks) 

a country => countries

– Nouns ending in “o” add “es” when changing to plural.

a potato (a potato) => potatoes (potatoes)

a tomato = > tomatoes

Some nouns are always in plural form:

pants, trousers

jeans, glasses, bsunglasses, scissors
